The conference is organized by the Pragmatics Department of the Institute for the German Language (IDS) in Mannheim.

The IDS is the central non-university institution for documentation and research on the contemporary usage and recent history of German. The Pragmatics Department studies language use in social interaction and its coordination with bodily and spatial resources in multimodal interaction.
